Legion benefits from Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign

Kapuskasing’s Royal Canadian Legion will benefit from the Tim Horton’s smile cookie promotion this week. Restaurant owners will donate the full $1 from each cookie to help the Legion which is among 550 that have been selected through the campaign. Legion Vice-President Donna Todd says they’re grateful for the support from Tim Horton’s.

“The funds raised from the sale of the cookies will help support activities for our veterans, our members, the general public at large,” Todd said. “These funds will help us to re-open our branch.”

Todd says the fundraising had had to take a step back.

“We started our chairlift campaign in January and with COVID-19 we have be struggling and funds are needed to be able to get this project off the ground,” she said. “We need the support of the community and we are looking forward to continue to offer services and activities for members of Kapuskasing.”

Restaurant owners Andre and Robin Bassari says communities coming together during these difficult times is more important than ever, and they are looking forward to supporting the Legion this week.
