NEOFACS offers help if your kids are struggling with school’s new normal

With everyone back in school now, some kids might already be showing signs of stress from the “new normal” in the classroom.

Northeastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services has a mental health kit to help you with it.

NEOFACS communications coordinator Melanie Watson says it was created by Children’s Mental Health Ontario, of which her agency is a partner.

“We know this is a difficult time, especially with the pandemic and the different measures that are going into place, like social distancing,” Watson notes.  “It’s all very new to youth and getting used to that environment.”

“Part of this tool kit, there’s an easy-fix kit for parents to kind of start that discussion with their youth and looking at what kids control in their environment and even encouraging their kids to ask questions and letting them know that they might not have all the answers, but that’s okay.”

The kit also looks at supports that might be needed at home and at school.

You can fined the back to school mental health kit here or here.
