Library returns to regular business hours with COVID-19 regulations in place

Many businesses and municipal buildings are slowly getting back to their regular hours operation and the same can be said for Kapuskasing Public Library. This is the first week of its regular business hours after using a modified schedule since July. Library CEO Julie Latimer says being ready well before this date has helped them get to this point.

“A couple of weeks after the pandemic struck, we made sure to have plexy-glass shields, we’ve had training for staff about the various processes that we need to do and we’re ready,” she said.

If you plan on going to the library there’s a list of covid-19 guidelines to follow including just 10 people being allowed inside at once.

Latimer says despite the longer hours they still won’t be able to offer many of its other services and programs.

“We’re still not able to have families spend an hour in the children’s section, and kids play games,” she said. “The Kapuskasing Gamer’s United can’t come and play because we are still limited to 20 minutes in the library. There are games that families can rent if need be.”
