Donat Brousseau Pool in Kapuskasing opens next week

If you have been missing going out for a swim, you are in luck, the Donat Brousseau Pool in Kapuskasing will reopen next week. It was closed during the COVID-19 pandemic which gave staff time to do some much needed repairs including painting and fixing a leak. Recreation Director Marc Clavelle says you won’t be allowed to just show up anymore.

“Say for instance distance swims the number of six being allowed, you will have to call and register and book your spots to be in that group,” he said. “The same goes for the exercise class or a public swim. Definitely going to be different it’s not just show up and dropping in because you probably will be out of luck.”

He doesn’t anticipate any lessons being offered until after Thanksgiving, and adds that they will be delivered in a much different way.

“The groups will be smaller and the young ones will need parents or an adult in the water because staff won’t be able to physically help them,” he said. “Our other programs will have less people in them again it’s based on physical distancing and the change room will only allow so many people at once.”
