40th Terry Fox Run in September going virtual

It will certainly be a lot different this year but the sentiment is still there. The 40th annual Terry Fox Run will go virtual this year on Sunday, Sept. 20 where you are invited to walk, jog or bike for someone lost to cancer. Kapuskasing run organizer Sue Renaud says since the participants can’t be together at once she is working on something to help bring them as a group in a unique way.

“I have two flags one in french and one in english and I would like to hang them somewhere in town,” she said. “So that if folks are on their run or biking that day they can swing by and grab a picture with the flags and then share it on social media. It will show a sense of community and everyone being together on that day.”

Renaud adds things will definitely feel much different.

“It’s not the same when you can’t have that anticipation to see everyone face to face and have that collective energy together,” she said. “There is a lot of interest on line and I’m sure we will have our regulars out participating. If the weather is great then that should bring more people out that day.”

If you are interested in participating in the run or donate you can go online.

The Kapuskasing Terry Fox Run has a Facebook page where you can find more information including several walking routes that Renaud wants to add.
