Smooth Rock Falls Historical Society and Museum receives donation

One of the original families in Smooth Rock Falls made a donation to the Historical Society Museum recently. Brian and George Moore gave the group seven thousand six hundred and 50 dollars on behalf of their late family member Tom Moore. Historical society president Shiela Jacques says Tom Moore arrived in Smooth Rock Falls shortly after enlisting into World War One.

“He arrived in Smooth Rock Falls in 1919,” she said. “He was quite the businessman and entrepreneur in the community. He had a dairy farm and built a garage and was involved in a lot of things around here.”

Tom Moore was one of the first five families to help build the former Trinity United Church that now houses the museum. The building is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The Smooth Rock Falls Historical Society Museum is open daily for tours and you are asked to respect COVID-19 protocols that include a temperature check and wear a mask.
