The 73rd case of COVID-19 in the Porcupine Health Unit region has been detected at Extendicare Timmins.
In a letter to families, administrator Kelly Roy says a staff member tested positive, although was asymptomatic and is now in isolation at home.
Roy says weekly testing for staff began on July 27th. She adds that it might result in more positive results, but that will help determine where the virus is hiding in the building. That, she says, will allow measures to be implemented to contain its spread.
