Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat doing well since opening on Canada Day

If you are looking for something fun to do with your family, the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat has reopened and inviting visitors back to say hello to the bears. Interim Polar Bear Habitat Manager Jennifer Olaisola says they’re thrilled with the response from the public and adds that the bears are doing wonderful.

“They are actually fed a seasonally appropriate diet including fruits and vegetables to help them feel full without putting on the calories,” she said. “It helps them stay leaner in the hotter months. They can enjoy the weather better and don’t need much insulation.”

Olasiola says even though they have had to close a few areas for public safety, there is no change to how you can see the bears. You must remember to bring your mask to habitat to be inside the welcome centre and viewers building.

All trips to the habitat must also be booked online and in advance. Here is the link to the Polar Bear Habitat.
