One week since mandatory masks by PHU

It’s been one week today since the Porcupine Health Unit asked you to start wearing a mask inside all public places and businesses. Chief Nursing Officer Chantal Riopel says there has been mixed reaction from everyone thus far but they appreciate the support received.
“We know that change can be difficult and can take time,” Riopel said. “We want to thank our businesses, our work places and our community members for their cooperation and their patience, while we are all getting use to wearing our masks and face coverings in indoor public spaces.”

She adds one of the most important things to remember is not to contaminate your mask.

“You need to wash your hands before putting your mask on so you won’t contaminate it,” she said. “It is important to wash your hands before and after you have taken it off.”

Riopel says that masks and face coverings should fit snugly over your nose and chin. Reusable masks should be washed daily, while single use ones can be disposed immediately after use.
