Officials are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a building in Mattice that housed three important businesses. Mattice-Val Cote Fire Chief Jean Pierre Tanguay (Tawn-Gay) says they were called to the building around 6 pm that hosts the Post Office, a hardware store and a gas station. He adds that the front of the building was destroyed, but his crew managed to save a portion of the back half. Canada Post advises residents in Mattice will have to access postal services and mail at the Val-Cote Post Office located on Highway 11. The hours of operation of the post office are as follows:
Monday: 12:30 pm – 6 pm
Tuesday: 9 am – 12 pm
Wednesday: 2 pm – 7:30 pm
Thursday: 12:30 pm – 6 pm
Friday: 9 am – 12 pm
