Kapuskasing Town Hall finally opens for business

The wait is finally over and many town halls in our region are open for business again. That includes the Civic Centre in Kapuskasing which began allowing the public in as of Monday. Town Administrator Guylain Baril  says there is still limited access to the building.

“The second floor to the Civic Center going up to the council chambers is still closed to the public and staff,” Baril said. “We have limited access to the auditorium too so if the public needs to go to those areas then we will escort them.”

Baril says the COVID-19 regulations for the Civic Centre are the same that many businesses are using.

“So when you walk in and see the red stickers to remind everyone about social distancing,” he said. “There are hand washing stations set up for people to use. The big one will be Thursday when the Porcupine Health Unit’s mandatory mask policy comes into play.”

Baril says there will be no exceptions regarding masks inside town hall with everyone needing to wear one. He noted that some will be available at the entrance in case you forget to bring yours. The Public Works office is also open once again with a vestibule and a glassed in area available if you need to access any of the services.
