New case of coronavirus identified in staff member at Timmins long term care home

*UPDATED AT 4:30PM** Porcupine Health Unit confirms that it’s a woman in her 20s.

Extendicare Timmins is again the site of a COVID-19 outbreak.

In phone calls to families followed by a message posted on its Facebook page, the long term care home says a staff member has tested positive and gone into home isolation. That staff member was asymptomatic.  Their case was identified through enhanced testing in long term care settings.

Non-essential indoor and outdoor visits have been suspended, although window visits and video calls are still allowed.

This is the 69th case of coronavirus in Porcupine Health Unit territory.  Eight people have died.
