Two Catholic Churches defrauded of $200,000, four people facing charges

A Kapuskasing resident and three others from the region are facing fraud charges following a lengthly police investigation in which money was taken from two catholic parishes.

Ontario Provincial Police began the investigation in October of 2018 when money was missing from St. Patrick’s Church in Kapuskasing and Transfiguration in Cochrane. The audit revealed that over $200,000 was taken by numerous transactions.

Each of the four persons are facing charges of fraud over $5,000, while two of them have charges of Criminal Breach of Trust,

 Two of those charged will be in a Kapuskasing court room on  October 5th, while the other two head to a Cochrane court room on October 6th.
