Ontario adds more than 200 new cases of COVID-19

Ontario has added 216 new cases of COVID-19. In a tweet, Health Minister Christine Elliott says 78-percent of the new cases are from Toronto, Peel, and Windsor-Essex. Elliott also says hospitalizations have increased today with 288 people in the hospital, but they remain well below peak levels when there were more than 1,000 patients in hospitals.  She added that the number of people in Intensive Care Units and on ventilators has decreased.

The province’s total number of cases is now 33,853.  Another 10 people died in the last 24 hours bringing the death toll from the virus to 2,619.

The recovery rate remains at 86-percent.  Ministry of Health data shows only 16,189 tests were done yesterday, well below the numbers we have been seeing in recent weeks.
