Diocese of Moosonee Anglican churches remain shuttered until early September

The provincial ban on worship services has been lifted.  However, the Very Reverend Valerie Isaac, dean of the Anglican Diocese of Moosonee says it’s not reopening its parishes.  That will happen when the bishop of the diocese says it’s safe.

“The churches themselves will not be physically open until the first weekend of September,” says Isaac, adding that that allows time to figure out everything needed to bring parishioners back into the buildings safely.

“We still have considerations for those who are elderly or those with compromised immune systems,” she notes.  “So this is a very careful approach and we as individuals are saying thank you. Now we have to pass the message along.”

Virtual services will continue all summer, and maybe once the buildings are open again.  Isaac has an evening prayer service every Monday to Friday on Facebook and a worship service on Sunday morning on Zoom.
