‘One or two weeks’ before licenced child care centres start to reopen: CDSSAB

Licenced child care centres in our region will not be reopening on Friday, despite them being in phase two of the return towards normal, as allowed by the province.

Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board chief administrative officer Brian Marks says neither will all the centres open on the same day.

“It will take anywhere from one to two weeks before we begin to open some of these centres,” he told a conference call with media.  “Additional information will be provided to the public on our website, as we confirm specific centre reopening dates. “Priority will be based on the needs of the current clients, number of staff that can return to work and their child care needs, and the availability of space.”

The centres have to abide by enhanced cleaning protocols; screening of staff and kids for COVID-19; and a limit of ten people in any room.
