Rally against racism set for Kapuskasing on Saturday

A rally against racism is set for the Model Town of the North on Saturday. The march begins at the Welcome Centre starting at noon and will feature eight minutes of silence to honor those who have lost their lives due to racism followed by a walk throughout different parts of the community. Organizer Crystal Peltonen-Dostie says they are looking to a really big turnout.

“This is a step forward in the right direction towards life without discrimination for future generations,” says Peltonen-Dostie. “I think it is for the best.”

Peltonen-Dostie says the early support for the event is great to see.

“It just warms my heart to see so many people take an interest in this event, looking forward to having everyone out,” she said.

The protest rally has a Facebook page to find out more information about the event and it’s at #BlackLivesMatter-Kapuskasing March.
