The main fundraising event for the auxiliary to raise money at Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing has been cancelled. Chairman Aline Carrier says they’ve cancelled the giant Hey Day Garage Sale event in September due to COVID-19.
“It’s very disappointing to everyone the volunteers and the people of the community,” she said. “I’ve got too much love and respect for my 158 volunteers that I just don’t wait to put at risk.”
They Hey Day was set to mark its 53rd anniversary. It’s become an annual tradition where local residents donate used furniture, as well as clothing and other items to be sold. Last year $50,400 was raised with all of the proceeds to help purchase medical equipment at the hospital.
