Many fundraising events and activities have either had to be modified or cancelled this year due to COVID-19. The 40th anniversary Terry Fox Run is one of those events undergoing a change. Kapuskasing event organizer Sue Renaud says the run will be virtual this September.
“One day your way on Sunday, Sept. 20th,” she said. “You can participate from wherever you are. You can walk, jog or bike, down your street or in your neighborhood or whatever you choose to do. This is the format for this year’s event.”
Renaud says there won’t be any door-to-door canvassing due to COVID-19 which will hurt one of their big fundraisers every year Stella Arezza.
“We are looking into how people can donate and make it just for her or other people,” she said. “We are trying to figure out some of those details and achieve our goals. One is to try to get as many people as possible to participate and the other is to raise money for Cancer research.”
