Even though the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is lifting the restricted fire zone as of 12:01 Saturday morning, no new fire permits will be issues in Kapuskasing. Fire Chief Pat Kennedy says you must get a permit in order to burn in the community and they won’t be issuing any new ones due to the pandemic. He reminds those that currently do have permits to use cautiously and follow the guidelines.
