Long term care workers tested in Kapuskasing as part of Provincial orders

Health care professionals at the COVID-19 Assessment Centre in Kapuskasing were busy last week testing long term care workers that was mandated by the Province. Nurse Practitioner Nadia Ratte of the Centre De Sante says they were thrilled with how everything went.

“We were able to see a lot of people in a short amount of time and get their requirements completed by the Ministry of Health,” she said.

Ratte says other people who had symptoms and came in for testing were not ignored.

“We made sure to separate those two,” she said. “Obviously, those long term care workers that came in did not show signs or symptoms. If they did at all, they were separated and classified in a different section so we wouldn’t get them mixed up.”

Kapuskasing continues to be one of the few communities not to have any confirmed COVID-19 cases. Ratte says even though that’s great news they don’t’ want to create a false sense of security and public health protocols must still be followed.
