There continues to be a ban on any outdoor fires in Kapuskasing. Fire Chief Pat Kennedy says they had been fielding a number of calls from residents regarding the issue. He adds some Southern Ontario cities that are not regulated by the Province lifted their own bans.
“We have no control over the fire ban at the municipality,” said Kennedy. “We don’t know how long it will stay in place for. It’s there so there are not any fires breaking out right across which is Gravenhurst right up through Northern Ontario.”
Kennedy says it will be a decision by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry as to when that ban will be lifted.
