Kapuskasing Assessment Centre seeing more people for testing

The COVID-19 Assessment Centre in Kapuskasing is a busy place. Nurse Practitioner Nadia Ratte from the Centre De Sante says that in a matter of weeks the number of appointments have increased to a maximum of 13 during a three hour period that the Centre is open.

“The healthcare professionals are quite good in our community, public health and the health care workers in long term care facilities,” Ratte said. “They have done an excellent job referring the right people for a swab. It’s not just anyone who is going through for a swab it’s those people who have gone through the assessment.”

The Assessment Centre is open three days a week from 9 am to noon by appointment only. It’s located at the Centre de Loisirs.

Nurse Practitioner Nadia Ratte (Rah-Teh) of the Centre de Sante says she has seen firsthand how everyone is working towards one goal of keeping the community safe.

“It’s a multiple profession and people from different agencies that are working together at the Assessment Centre,” Ratte reported. “It’s quite nice to see that, and we are all working together and we all have extremely good ideas. We are trying to get a grip on this virus in our area which is extremely important.”
