Add another new case of COVID-19 to the Porcupine Health unit area, bringing it to 55.
This one is a woman in her 30s who works at Timmins and District Hospital, but the PHU says it’s not part of the outbreak there. She’s in self-isolation at home. It hasn’t been determined how she was infected.
TADH chief executive Blaise MacNeil is praising the health unit, in light of its territory having the highest number of positive cases as a percentage of its population.
“We’re also receiving great support from the health unit,” he comments. “They are doing the highest percentage of testing in the north, which you would expect with the cases we’re seeing.”
This region has about three times the number of positives per capita than the rest of the province.
