Town Council postpones spring clean up until August

If you have been doing some clean-up around your home during the physical distancing due to the COVID-19 Emergency, you may have to wait to dispose of those items. Kapuskasing Town Council postponed the annual Spring Clean-up until the fall where it will be re-evaluated. Public Works general Manager Eric Cote says they were concerned about COVID-19.

“We were concerned about the safety of our employees with contamination issues and social distancing,” he said. “We decided to postpone it and look at it again later this summer. During spring clean up there are a number of items that require two men to collect and it can’t be done under the social distancing guidelines.”

Cote says that you are invited to use the town’s landfill site to dispose of your items.

“The only thing we are asking is to respect the social distancing and not enter the scale and speak to the attendant or talk to our staff,” he said. “We need to keep the government guidelines in mind.”

The landfill site hours are Monday to Friday from 9 to 6 and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm.
