The updated total of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Porcupine Health Unit jurisdiction is now 54.
The four new cases reported today are all part of the outbreak at Timmins and District Hospital and are all women. Porcupine Health Unit medical officer of health Doctor Lianne Catton says they’re all women in their 90s, 70s, 50s and 30s.
“Two of these individuals are staff and two are patients,” Catton states. “The investigation is ongoing at this time to determine any potential linkages.”
The two staff members are in home isolation.
Catton calls the investigation “extensive”, adding that PHU continues to work with the hospital on that.
“Also to continue to ensure all the processes and procedures are in place to protect all staff and patients.”
The total number of tests done is now 1,368, up 172 from yesterday.
