A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Timmins and District Hospital.
The hospital announced in a joint statement with the Porcupine Health Unit early Sunday night that one patient has contracted the coronavirus.
The patient has been moved into isolation, and access to the affected unit has been placed under increased restrictions. That brings the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in PHU territory to 50.
Three other outbreaks have been declared, all in Timmins. They’re at St. Mary’s Gardens and Spruce Hill Lodge retirement homes, and the Extendicare nursing home. However, the designation at Extendicare was lifted on Friday.
