UPDATE: Early Thursday evening, the health unit confirmed that the worker who tested positive is an employee of St. Mary’s Gardens. The long term care facility is located in the former St. Mary’s Hospital in Timmins.
Three more COVID-19 tests in the Porcupine Health Unit area have come back positive.
Medical officer of health Dr. Lianne Catton says one of them is a worker in a long-term care home. More information on that is expected later in the day.
The new cases are a man and a woman in Timmins, both in their 50s and a man in his 60s in the health unit-defined area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls. All three are under investigation to determine how they contracted the virus.
They bring the total in the region to 45 confirmed cases.
