Kap area records first COVID-19 case

There have now been 18 cases of COVID-19 confirmed by Porcupine Health Unit.  Six positive tests reported Tuesday night bumped the total up to that level.

For the first time, the Kapuskasing area figures in the count.   A man in his 40s who lives somewhere between Opasatika and Fauquier  is  a victim of close contact with another positive case. He’s in self-isolation

Three of them are two boys under the age of ten and a woman in her 30s, somewhere between Matheson and Smooth Rock Falls.  They all became infected through close contact with another case, and are all in self-isolation.

And a woman in her 60s and one in her 70s are both patients at Timmins and District Hospital.  The health unit doesn’t say how they contracted the coronavirus.
