An update was provided to Town Councilors on Monday night regarding the COVID-19 emergency in the community.
There are no cases currently in Kapuskasing but Town Administrator Guylain Baril says more than a dozen swabs have taken place pending results with more being scheduled. The Health Care Professional Committee is currently exploring options for an Assessment Centre, and they include the Curling Club and Sports Palace. Baril noted that the Drive-Thru Assessment Centres are not an option that Kapuskasing wants to consider. Council also decided not to declare an emergency for Kapuskasing, as they believe that all of the guidelines are being following by community residents and businesses.
