You can be arrested for not quarantining

Here’s a question and an answer: If you know someone who is supposed to be in quarantine because of COVID-19, can they be arrested?

Timmins Police chief John Gauthier says yes. The Quarantine Act appoints medical practitioners or qualified health practitioners as quarantine officers.  They make the call.

“Under the authority of the quarantine officer, we can go arrest that person,” Gauthier cites, “but what it asks us to do is bring that person right back to the quarantine officer. The quarantine officer may detain a person who basically has refused to disinfect or to go get a health assessment and so on and so on.”
