Municipal politicians are getting firsthand experience with a coronavirus cancellation.
The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities has called off its annual meeting that was set for May 13th to 15th in Timmins.
The president, Timiskaming Shores councillor Danny Whalen says the decision is in line with advice from provincial and regional public health organizations. He adds that it’s in the best interest of delegates, trade show participants, Timmins city staff and people who work in the hospitality industry.
FONOMÂ is a group of 115 municipalities across the Northeast.
Its annual get-together will be held in Timmins next year.
