Call it Shrove Tuesday… Pancake Tuesday… or Mardi Gras. Today is the day that a lot of Christians eat pancakes.
The Dean of St. Matthew’s Cathedral and the Anglican Diocese of Moosonee, the Very Reverend Valerie Isaac… says it’s the one day of the year that you use up all the rich food in the house.
“Ideally you have all your fatty foods and all your good stuff if you will and have it all eaten and cleaned out of your refrigerator and cupboards before Lent begins tomorrow,” Isaac said.
Ash Wednesday tomorrow begins Lent… the 40-day period leading up to Easter when Christians forego those rich foods to commemorate Christ fasting in the wilderness.
