Strike action by teachers and other education workers have closed all publicly-funded schools in Ontario today. All four teachers’ unions are flexing their collective muscle in a solidarity move to put pressure on the Ford government to negotiate a new contract.
In Kapuskasing, members of the four unions were on the circle since 8 am this morning picketing receiving support from motorists passing by. The Circle has been a common place for the unions to walk since the one day withdrawal of services began.
English Catholic students in our region also get this Thursday off. That’s when rotating strike action by the union affects the Northeastern Catholic District board and St. Patrick’s School in Kapuskasing.
