Francophone Municipal Conference coming to Kapuskasing for 100th anniversary

As preparations begin to mark Kapuskasing’s 100th anniversary, one major provincial organization gave some good news this week. The Association of Francophone Municipalities of Ontario told Town officials that they will be holding their annual conference in Kapuskasing next fall. Administrator Guylain Baril says this is great news for the community.

“We think it would be well suited for Kapuskasing to host such a great conference,” he said. “This brings the proud francophones of our province to our community to celebrate with us our 100th anniversary.

Baril says Kapuskasing has been part of this organization for several years.

One of the main goals of the association is to maintain and improve municipal services in French in Ontario. Cornwall is hosting this year’s conference.
