It may be spring before we hear word about several provincial government grants. Mayor Dave Plourde and town officials met with government ministers during a recent conference to get support behind the new pool project and road construction. Town Administrator Guylain Baril says it was all about making a case for Kapuskasing.
“In both cases we pleaded our need for the funding,” Baril said. “For the connecting link with the Ministry of Transportation and for the pool with the Ministry of Infrastructure, we tried to make a solid argument as to why Kapuskasing needed the money over the other applicants.”
Baril says the meetings were positive.
“They asked a lot of good questions and treated with a lot of respect,” he said. “We were not dismissed early.”
