Town Council looks at exploring changes to delivery of meals for Evacuation Program

An important meeting is set for tonight to see how Kapuskasing Town Council will proceed with catering of meals as part of the Evacation Program.  The contract is up for renewal. Town Administrator Guylain Baril says they have been able to split up the making of snacks among several businesses and want to explore the full meals.

“A lot of that revenue goes to one supplier, and for very good reason,” he said. “It can be difficult to have to many cooks in the kitchen, but we are exploring the fact of maybe having more that one provider for that service.”

O’Brien’s currently has the contract, and made a presentation to council on Monday night stating why they should remain the lone company, and spoke about problems that could arise. Baril says they are thrilled with the work that O’Brien’s Grill has done.

“We have worked effectively with O’Brien’s in the past with the evacuation program and they have done an excellent job,” he said. “The program wouldn’t be where it is without them.”
