Two new programs at College Boreal a hit among students in Kapuskasing

Two new programs at College Boreal in Kapuskasing have hit their mark. During a Monday afternoon press conference at Ecole Secondaire Cite des Jeunes, college officials announced that 19 total students have enrolled in carpentry and indigenous women in welding programs. Campus Director Michelle Lebel says  they couldn’t be happier with the results.

“It’s great to see there is participation from the students who want to get into these trades,” Lebel said. “I think it also shows the partnership in the industry which is behind us also. It makes a big difference.”

Lebel says the students shared their heart-felt stories of why they enrolled in the program.

“They all have different stories and reasons why they are enrolled in the programs,” she said. “The common goal is that they want to find a career that gives them passion, and that is what we are providing.”
