If you every thought there should be a ride-sharing business like Uber in Kapuskasing,. you’re not alone. Town Administrator Guylain Baril says there is no bylaw preventing it.
“It’s prohibited and there is no restrictions on any bylaws that we have,” he said. “Those bylaws that we do have are for taxi services in town.”
Baril says the current taxi services are very limited.
“It is very limited to bringing someone home safely on a Friday or Saturday night and you are waiting quite a while for taxi,” he said.
He adds that if anyone wants to explore this business venture then they are more than welcome to speak to Town Hall. A ride-sharing business called URide out of Thunder Bay began in Timmins recently giving local residents other transportation options.
