BIA President happy with small business tax break announced by Province

A tax cut for small businesses is being applauded by local shop owners in Kapuskasing. The Province announced a cut to the small business corporate tax by nearly nine per cent, giving about $1,500 in savings. BIA President Luc Dinnissen says this welcome news for their members.

“They actually pay an actual tax levy to operate in this area of the downtown,” Dinnissen said. “The fact that the Provincial Government is reducing the tax burden allows these businesses to use the money to spend elsewhere.”

Dinnissen says small businesses are the back bone of the communities like Kapuskasing.

“They support your sports teams and your non-profit organizations,” he said. “These are really the heart and soul of your community. If we can reduce the tax burden or the red tape then it really helps these businesses.”
