Memorable night of community support at CT Scan official opening at Sensenbrenner Hospital

There was a tremendous show of support at Sensenbrenner Hospital on Thursday night. It was the official opening of the CT Scan that featured speeches by various dignitaries and guided tours of the new facility. The Fundraising committee Chairman Gilbert Peters says they were able to exceed their goal and hit $2.2 million in 70 days.

“The people of Kapuskasing came out and supported this project right from the outset,” Peters said. “We did some advertising to spread the word about fundraising efforts but people kept coming by to contribute. As an example, we collected $15,000 alone this week.”

Since the Scan opened on November 25, nearly 100 people have gone through the facility. Roger Gauthier was the first person to use the CT Scan, and told the crowd he was thrilled that he didn’t have to go out of town for the service.  Hospital CEO France Dallaire says the new equipment will improve the quality of patient care not just in the hospital but across the area and eliminating the need to travel out of town for the service.
