Some schools open, some not on Wednesday due to strike action

Wednesday, today, is a day off for some school kids in our region, due to a one-day strike by some teachers and support workers.

The English Catholic and French public boards say it’s business as usual.  None of the unionized workers going out are employed in their schools.

The French Catholic Board is closing all of its high schools and elementary schools.  Some support workers belong to the francophone high school teachers union, so it’s a safety issue in the elementary schools.

The English public board is doing much the same, closing high schools and cancelling elementary classes, although it expects those elementary teachers to report for professional development work.
