Snowmobile Trails still not open yet in area

You might think that with all of this snow in the last week that it would open the snowmobile trails sooner. In fact, that’s not the case! Northern Corridor Du Nord President Mitch Garon says they are still at least two weeks away from making the trails available from Cochrane through to Greenstone.

“We still need to do some more work on the trails,” he said. “Mother Nature can help by bringing us a bit more snow. But our members are doing their best to get the trails open as soon as we can.”

Garon says traditionally they have the trails open by mid-December or near Christmas. He adds that if they were to open up earlier it would certainly help everyone including the local riders

“The locals can ride a bit earlier for sure but it also helps our snowmobile tourism,” he said. “People from all over the province will migrate to the corridor so they can try their new sleds sooner than what they would living in the south.”

Northern Corridor du Nord consists of over 2,000 miles of trails from Cochrane to Greenstone. It’s maintained by the volunteer hours of the snowmobile members.
