Habitat board plans public meeting of its own

The board of the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat is getting a one-day jump on town council, holding its own public open house to talk about saving the facility.

It’s set for 1:00-3:00pm, next Sunday, Nov. 17 at Club Amical 50 Plus on Fourth Avenue.

In a news release, board chair JP Bradette says “Over the past year, the board has been aggressively exploring funding options to put the Polar Bear Habitat on track, and a longer term plan that ensures it’s going to be sustainable into the future.

“We look forward to continue working with the town to find a workable solution, and we are hopeful that the town will reconsider its decision.”

That decision was made this past week in a closed council meeting.  The final decision on the Habitat’s future will be made early next month, pending public input picked up at the town’s own open house on Mon., Nov. 18.
