Christmas Angel Campaign kicks off Tuesday

It’s never too early to think about others this time of the year. That’s why the annual NEOFACS Christmas Angel Campaign is looking for your help on Tuesday. The campaign features a variety of different events where you can help a family or a child by purchasing Christmas gifts. Chairperson Mireille Dubosq says just like Santa Claus they have a list of children who need our help who that have referred to by friends or businesses.

“The names of potential children come through the workers at NEOFACS as well as either friends or businesses,” she said. “They are put on a big mast list so there are no duplications. We take a look at that list and with help of staff and generous community sponsors we help to fulfill the Christmas wishes.”

Karen Poitras of who works at NEOFACS says the campaign is really important to them connect with families.

“It helps the children feel like every other child their age,” Poitras said. “They get to open their gift and share their experiences with their friends.”

The campaign begins with The Angel Trees that will be set up at a variety of different businesses, including Wal-Mart and Moonbeam Country Store. You can drop by any of the locations and pick up a tag and purchase a Christmas gift for that child. The wrapped gifts can be brought back to where you picked up the tag. The campaign also features the Moose FM community cares Radiothon from 6 am to 6 pm on Friday, Nov. 29. You will be able to make a pledge and give cash donations during the radiothon or drop off toys during the Toy Drive at Val Albert Motors.
