Now that it’s known what the cost of building a new pool for Kapuskasing would be of $22.7 million. There has been some question as to what the cost to operate a new facility would be. Kapuskasing Town Administrator Guylain Baril says it would be up slightly from current facility.
“That would be a 20 per cent increase to the existing cost today or $130,000,” Baril said. “Right now it costs about $650,000 to run the pool so you would add 20 per cent on top of that.”
Baril adds that the new revenue would offset the additional costs.
“That the subsidy used by the town to run the pool would be the same as we use to operate the current pool,” he said.
