The numbers are in. Approximately 39 women including three new took advantage of the walk-in mammogram days at Sensenbrenner Hospital. It was part of Breast Cancer Awareness month activities in October. Melissa Marien of the Diagnostic Imaging Department says the next step for those ladies is to wait for their results which should be available in a few weeks.
“That’s what great about this program. They will receive through the mail a copy of their results and their doctor also gets the results too,” she said. “If there is follow-up needed than the secretary will contact those patients and bring them right in.”
Marien says they are always pleased to see those women who are due for their mammogram, but added that what’s important are the new women.
“The ladies were convinced to take that big step and come in to be part of the program,” she said. “Those were the key important people from these walk in days. We reached out to three new people this year so that is very good.”
