Kapuskasing Mayor hopes new Federal Government will communicate better with north

As you head to vote on Monday, what are you hopeful for from the next government? It’s a question that is not only on the minds of yourself, but of local politicians. Kapuskasing Mayor Dave Plourde says he could put together a wish list that could include a number of items such as funding. He says the bottom line is that the new government needs to communicate better with the north.

“We need a government that would sit down and meet with municipal governments across the north to develop an action plan,” he said. “We don’t want to be behind the 8-ball all the time.”

Plourde says the Flex Shuttle project is a perfect example of how municipal governments work together.

“That’s what we are doing in Northern Ontario,” he said. “We are starting to work together. We are working towards goals that include all of us, and realize that our neighbors are as important as we are. That’s ideally how you want to work.”

The Federal Election is set for this Monday.
