Town of Kap hopes leisure pool attracts new people to new aquatic center

Would you like to use the new pool in Kapuskasing for more than just laps. Town of Kapuskasing Officials want to attract more of those type of users. That’s why they are adding a leisure pool to the new aquatic centre they are looking to build across from the Sports Palace.  Administrator Guylain Baril says they were impressed with the those using the leisure pool during their recent trip to Kirkland Lake.

“Most of them were in the leisure pool, standing around or just floating,” he said. “Others were hanging around the tea cup or the car wash. It also has an accessibility ramp too which makes it great.”

Baril says they’ve been missing those types of users at the current pool, and believe they will be an important part of the new centre.

“The crowd you don’t have are those who just want to float and use some of those features that Kirkland Lake has,” he said.

A mid-November deadline is approaching for Town Officials to submit an application to the Provincial Government for funding.  It will still be a few weeks before we know the exact cost of a new pool.
