Changes to regulations aim to help hunters

A few minor changes in hunting regulations appear to be making things a bit easier on hunters this fall. Some of those changes allow hunters to carry documents digitally instead of having them printed out when they are on the hunt. Ministry of Natural Resources Senior Media Relations Officer Yolanta Kowalski says one area where hunters still need a printed document is for animal tags which have replaced the game seals.

“Tags do have to be carried in paper format and can’t be carried digitally,” Kowalski said. “Hunters are discovering you can print your tags at home or go to the nearest Service Ontario office.”

Kowalski said there are also new mandatory reporting documents.

“This is very important to us because it helps us gather information,” she said. “So hunters won’t be getting post card surveys anymore but will be done over the phone. So there are now just some various things that are in place now with the goal to make it easier for hunters.”
